Biography

Came from the hereditary nobles of the Ryazan province [4] . Born in St. Petersburg on October 20 ( November 1 ), 1848 [5] in the family of a friend of the chairman of the temporary presence of Gerold Mikhail Avksentievich Aikanov (1798-1881) [6] . As early as 1792, their ancestor, Avksenty Semenovich Aikanov, was included in the second part of the Noble genealogy of the Ryazan province [7] .

He studied at the 3rd St. Petersburg Gymnasium (issue 1865) [8] . After completing a course at the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy in 1870 with a doctor ’s degree, he began serving as a supernumerary junior medical officer at the medical department; in 1878 he was transferred to the vacancy of a junior intern at the Mariinsky Hospital. In 1879, he was appointed director of the Moscow school of the Patriotic Society , and the following year he was approved as a consultant to the clinic for visitors to the Committee for the analysis and charity of the poor . In 1889 he defended his thesis and was appointed senior doctor at the Mariinsky Hospital .

In 1890, he was sent abroad for a scientific purpose, and in 1891, by the highest order, he was appointed to accompany the heir to the Crown Prince to Algeria. In 1896 he was promoted to the rank of State Councilor and was sent to Abbas Tuman . In 1897 he was appointed consultant physician for internal medicine at the St. Petersburg educational institutions of the Office of the Empress Maria . In 1900 he was appointed director of the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor and Alexandria Women’s, as well as a member of the special medical meeting of the Office of the Empress Maria. At the time of the departure of the Life Surgeon Pavlov in 1900-1902, he served as inspector for the medical part. In 1902, on a yacht, Zarnitsa accompanied Tsarevich Mikhail Alexandrovich abroad. In 1903 he was elected an honorary magistrate of the Sapozhkovsky district . Despite the fact that Aykanov was very busy with managing the Mariinsky Hospital, he devoted part of his time to scientists and charitable societies.

A.M. Aykanov was a friend of the chairman of the medical and surgical society, chairman of the committee for the admission of patients to the sanatorium Khalila (now the sanatorium "Sosnovy Bor" ), a member of the guardianship of the poor at the Mariinsky and Alexandria hospitals. In 1903, Aikanov underwent a serious operation, after which he lived another eleven months. Three weeks before his death, he went to bed. He died in St. Petersburg on May 20 ( June 2 ), 1904 [5] from stomach cancer. He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Novodevichy Cemetery [5] (the grave was not preserved).
