Careless Russian tramp

The group worked on “Careless Russian tramp” for an unusually long time - a total of more than two years. As a result, a new album, like “ ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM ”, appeared instead of the long-announced and expected album “Reproducer”, which, as expected, will include newly sung old songs of “Aquarium”. During the preparation of the "Reproducer", the musicians, according to Boris Grebenshchikov , felt that it was not interesting to re-chant old songs, and decided to include new songs in the album: as a result, it was decided to abandon the old songs and get a completely new album; the output of the "Reporter" was again delayed.

At the same time, with the release of "Tramp", "Aquarium", according to BG, completed the "phase that lasted five years", and "Tramp" was its last stage. ^[3] “I wanted not to rivet new discs, but to create an artifact that reflects the current state,” Grebenshchikov said on the eve of the album's release, emphasizing its phasing. ^[four]

According to many critics, in A Careless Russian Tramp, Aquarium turned out to have a completely luxurious musical palette and the same gallery of images - from finished but still philosophically invigorating alcoholics (“Mom, I can’t drink anymore”, “Glasses”) to “those who have gone into the subtle world with their heads” and “kisses on the chakra ” (“Sumela”). ^[3]

About 30 musical instruments were used in arranging the compositions that sound on the album: guitars, violins, flutes, saxophone and a number of exotic instruments, such as duduk , congi , curiyuk , cabas , majer , chimes . During the recording of the album, a new member appeared in the group - bassist Andrei Svetlov.

On the "Tramp" Aquarium freely experiments, without reference to genres and styles. Therefore, there are Celtic melodies, and electronics, and surreal humor and ... all that they always loved, but for various reasons did not always play. (From the press release of "Aquarium" to the album. ^[5] )

About the songs “Glasses” and “Carefree Russian Tramp”:

If it were my will, I would write lyrics for all Irish melodies, and not just two, because this music, unlike Russian, is surprisingly lively and beautiful.
