Ilya Tsrievich ( Croatian Ilija Crijević , Latin Aelius Lampridius Cervinus , Italian. Elio Lampridio Cerva , 1463 , Dubrovnik - September 15, 1520 , ibid.) - Croatian poet and prose writer, wrote in Latin and Dalmatian .
Biography
Belonged to an old and noble Ragus family. As a child, he came to Rome with his uncle, who was sent to the court of Pope Sixtus IV . Later he felt like a descendant of the great Rome and did not use the Serbo-Croatian language as Scythian , preferred the Italian or Latin version of his name. In 1483 - 1485 he was a member of the humanist Pomponius Leta ("Roman Academy"), studied ancient drama, wrote essays on Virgil , on the comedies of Plautus . In 1490 he returned to his homeland. He participated in the state affairs of the republic, taught, but after the death of his wife in 1512 he retired to the island of Ombla, where he lived until his death.
Proceedings
The author of od (among them - Ode to Dubrovnik ), elegy, epigrams, love poems, which focused on Catullus . Published the Latin Encyclopedic Lexicon ( 1480 ). The Latin epic poem about the Turkish invasion of Ragusa “The Tale of Epidavros” (Epidavros is the Latin name for Cavtat , Old Ragusa) remained incomplete.
