Biography
He was born on April 28 (May 10 according to the new style) in 1883 in the village of Khashtuk of the Kuban region of the Russian Empire in the family of a middle peasant.
In 1898 he entered the Shapsug one-class school in the neighboring village of Panaches , and in 1901 - at the Yekaterinodar military paramedic school . After graduating from it, he became the first paramedic among the Kuban Circassians .
Shahan Giray began to engage in revolutionary activities from the age of 20, a member of the RCP (b) since 1920.
Since 1920 he served in the Red Army . After the Civil War and the establishment of Soviet power in the Kuban - Hakurate actively engaged in the restoration of the national economy .
From 1920 to 1922 he was the secretary of the cell of the RCP (b) state farm "Abrau-Durso" ( Kuban-Black Sea region ), then chairman of the Gorsky Executive Committee.
In 1922, when the Cherkess (Adygea) autonomous region was formed , he became the first chairman of the regional executive committee , and later (from 1932 to 1935) - the first secretary of the Adygea regional committee of the CPSU (b) .
He died on October 5, 1935 in Moscow at the Kremlin Hospital , the funeral took place on October 10 in Krasnodar.
Hakurate was buried in a park opposite the Adygea Oblast Executive Committee and the Pedagogical College on the Red Street of Krasnodar [1] . In order to perpetuate the memory of the glorious son of the Adyghe people, the City Council decided to name Rabfakovskaya Street, Square and the feldsher-obstetric school by its name. Subsequently, posthumously (in 1938), Shahan-Girey Hakurate was negotiated and at the 9th Regional Party Conference was accused of conducting "enemy work." At the same time, the honorary burial of Hakurate in the square on Krasnaya Street in Krasnodar was liquidated. In 1938, the street was given a new name - st. Yezhov, a year later she became a street to them. Voroshilova and many more times changed its name [2] .
Later Hakurate was rehabilitated and today his name is on the streets of Krasnodar and Maykop [3] . On the map of Krasnodar, the name of Shahan-Girey Hakurate reappeared only on December 29, 1967, when the City Council renamed Krestyanskaya Street to them. Hakurate.
