Kirill Jacob Kulish ( born Kiril Jacob Kulish ; born February 16, 1994 , San Diego ) is an American actor, dancer and musician. From the age of 6 he studied ballet, at the age of fifteen he won the Tony Awards in the nomination " Best Leading Actor of a Musical " for his role in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical .

Biography
Kulish was born on February 16, 1994 in San Diego , California . Parents were Phil Axelrod and a native of Ukraine, Raisa Kulish [1] [2] . Cyril is fluent in Russian [3] . At the age of five, he began to study piano, at the age of six years - ballet, at seven years old - ballroom dancing, at eight - gymnastics, at ten - karate. In 2006, he won the “Hope” prize of the largest international ballet competition Youth America Grand Prix , and subsequently won the Grand Prix of this competition three times [4] [5] . In 2007 he became the champion of America in karate and ballroom dancing. In 2009, he was awarded the prize of the Center for Russian Culture in New York, the World Theater Prize, the Fred Aster Prize, the Society of Spectators Prize and the special prize of the External Society of Critics. In the same year, he won the Tony Awards in the nomination “ Best Leading Actor of a Musical ” for his leading role in the premiere of the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical [6] . That year, for the first time in the history of the ceremony, the prize was awarded immediately to three actors who played the main role of the musical alternately. Cyril received scholarship offers from the Royal Ballet School, the Paris School of Opera and Ballet, as well as an invitation to speak in the Kings of Dance project. He was the youngest dancer admitted to the San Diego Ballet Academy. He performed with ABT American Ballet Theater in eight gala concerts in Mexico City . Gives piano concerts in Mexico City and Europe, became the winner of several music awards. He continues to participate in television, film and theater projects [3] .
Billy Elliot the Musical
At a press conference in New York, April 22, 2008, the premiere cast of the main role was announced: Cyril Kulish, Trent Kovalik , David Alvarez. The first performance of Cyril took place on October 1, 2008, and on June 7, 2009, together with two other performers, he was awarded the Tony Awards in the nomination " Best Leading Actor of a Musical ". The musical was nominated for 15 awards [7] , and won 10 of them. Including Best Musical of the Year [8] . The last performance of Cyril took place on Saturday, October 3, 2009 [9] .
Other works
At the end of 2009, Kulish played the lead role in the ballet The Nutcracker [10] . In 2010, he took part in the Ballroom Dance Championships at the Southwest Regional US Championship in Long Beach , California . Currently lives with his parents in San Diego and New York [3] .
