Model

The collective fundraising method used on the site is called crowdfunding [6] . Kickstarter facilitates fundraising by creating a model that can be better than traditional ways of investing [7] . Anyone who wants to receive funding must register and post the project description on Kickstarter. Kickstarter contains recommendations [8] which projects will be accepted.

The project owner must indicate the period and the minimum amount of funds that must be collected. If the project has not raised the required amount of funds by a certain deadline, then the money will be returned to the sponsors. Money is collected using Stripe [9] . .

Kickstarter takes 5% of the funds raised; Stripe charges an additional 3-5% [10] . Unlike many fundraising or investment forums, Kickstarter does not claim ownership of the projects and works that they accept for publication on their website, but they have the right to use the intellectual property received from you for any purpose, not exclusively [1] . However, the projects carried out on the site are kept and available to the public. After the financing of projects is completed, the downloaded information and materials cannot be edited or deleted from the site [11] .

Kicking It Forward

There is a Kicking It Forward program, in which by March 2013 233 projects took part (including 31 that were at the stage of fundraising): their creators give a promise (not controlled by any formal agreement) of 5% of the profit received after their release, spend on financing other projects on Kickstarter'e [12] . Among the projects that joined the program: Wasteland 2 , Project Eternity , Project Fedora , Torment: Tides of Numenera .

Criticism

Each project should be moderated and there is a tendency that the organizers mainly select only the potentially most successful projects, to which a video must surely be added, promising investors of the project awards, benefits, thanks. For example, a finished copy or several, games, comics , books ; engraving on behalf of investors. In addition, it is very difficult to find unsuccessful projects on the site that have not received funding. This partly explains the huge indicator of successfully funded projects. According to some opinions, the site is too focused on success and too commercialized, so it is more likely to be an exchange or a store of prepaid art products that you like [24] .
