Biography
George Boltaev was born on April 5, 1914 in the city of Kustanai (now Kazakhstan ) into a peasant family. He received secondary education, worked as chief accountant in the Semipalatinsk association "Glavparfumery".
Army Service
In 1936 - 1938 and 1939 - 1940, Boltaev served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In May 1942 for the third time he was called up for military service.
In 1944 he graduated from the military infantry school in Tambov , after which he was on the fronts of World War II. In 1944 he joined the CPSU (b) .
By April 1945, Captain Georgy Boltaev commanded a machine gun company of the 172nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 57th Guards Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front .
Feat
He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Oder and the assault on the Zeelov Heights [1] .
On April 16, 1945, the first company in the regiment broke into the German trench at heights and destroyed 2 assault guns, 5 firing points and several dozen enemy soldiers and officers, and also captured a battery of 75 mm guns. On April 17, a company, pursuing the retreating German units, occupied the central street of the city of Zeelov [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, Captain Georgy Boltaev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
Post-war period
In 1946, with the rank of captain, Boltaev was sacked. He lived and worked in the city of Grozny of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [1] . He died in 1986 .
He was buried in the cemetery of the Leninsky district. The grave is a monument of regional importance. According to data from 2010, it is in unsatisfactory condition [2] .
