Ghibil (Akkad. Girra , Girru [1] ) - in Sumerian mythology, the god of fire [2] , the son of the thunder god Ishkur and the goddess of fertility Shala . In some versions of Enum Elish , it is said about him that he was responsible for maintaining weapons in combat readiness (sharpened spears and arrows). Sometimes, as the god of purifying fire, it is called the Purifier [3] .

Ghibil was a blacksmithing master and possessed wisdom, which "no god could not exceed." In Greco-Roman mythology, Hephaestus - Volcano corresponds to it, in Egyptian - Ptah .
