The athletic belt is a high-performance accessory, an important part of the sports equipment of a weightlifter and powerlifter . The purpose of the athletic belt is to maintain abdominal pressure. Thereby fastens the belt in the center of the abdominal belt. This allows you to fix the spine in a vertical position and to avoid injuries associated with high loads.
History
The first mention of the use of the athletic belt was reproduced in John Webster's Iron Game. The book contains a photograph of Thomas Inch, who released the work "Scientific training with weights" in 1905, in which he held two women over his head with one hand and dressed in an athletic belt.
In 1937, at the World Weightlifting Championships in Paris, American John Terpak was captured in his belt at the time of his golden attempt.
In 1958, at the World Weightlifting Championships in Stockholm, American Isaac Berger performed in the belt [1] .
