In the 2012 presidential election, residents of the canton gave 32.4% of the vote in the 1st round to Francois Hollande versus 29.2% for Marin Le Pen and 17.0% for Nicolas Sarkozy , and Hollande won in the 2nd round in the canton 60.1% of the vote (2007 1st round: Segolen Royal - 29.6%; Sarkozy - 24.4%. 2nd round: Royal - 53.9%). In the elections to the National Assembly in 2012 in the 11th constituency of the Pas de Calais department, in the 1st round, they cast the majority of votes - 41.4% - to the leader of the National Front, Marine Le Pen , but in the 2nd round, the candidate of the Socialist Party, Philip Kemel , won 51.2% of the vote. In the 2010 regional elections, the list of socialists won in the 1st round, collecting 40.2% of the vote against 25.8% of the National Front, 8.7% of the list of "rightists" and 7.8% of the communists. In the 2nd round, a single “left list” with the participation of socialists, communists and greens, led by the President of the Regional Council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Daniel Persheron received 56.3% of the vote, the National Front Marine Le Pen took second place with 31.0%, while the “right” list led by Senator Valerie Letar finished third with 12.7%.
