Tambor language is the language of the deceased Tambor culture that existed on the island of Sumbawa (modern Indonesia) and was destroyed along with all its native speakers in 1815 by the eruption of Tambora volcano. Related to the Papuan languages . Currently dead .

Only one list of Tamborean words is known, compiled by the commander of the British armed forces in the region, Sir Stamford Raffles, shortly before the eruption and published in 1817. [1] . Obviously, the language was not Austronesian ; it has only a few Austronesian borrowings. [2]
