The Leningrad region is the administrative unit of the Kokchetav region of the Kazakh SSR ( 1955 - 1991 ) and the Republic of Kazakhstan ( 1991 - 1997 ). The administrative center is the village of Leningradskoye .

Geography
The Leningrad region was located in the northern part of the Kokchetav region, on the border of the West Siberian plain and the Kazakh small hills . Area - 5.1 thousand km². In the north, it bordered on the Omsk region of the RSFSR .
History
It was founded on October 22, 1955 as part of the Kokchetav region of the Kazakh SSR. On May 2, 1997, it was abolished and became part of the newly formed Akzharsky district of the Kokshetau region , and from the next day, when the latter was abolished, of the North Kazakhstan region .

According to the results of the 1989 All-Union Population Census, the population of the Leningrad Region was 37,706 [1] people. The average population density is 8.5 people per 1 km².
