Biography
Elizabeth Theresa was the eleventh of 13 children born to the Duke of Lorraine, Leopold I Joseph and his wife, the French Princess Elizabeth Charlotte . By the time of her birth, eight out of 10 of her brothers and sisters had died of various diseases, the girl grew up with three brothers and a younger sister . One of her older brothers later became emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Franz I Stefan , elected 4 years after the death of Elizabeth Theresa. Elizabeth Theresa was the sister-in-law of the wife of Franz I, also the future Empress Maria Theresa .
In 1737, Elizabeth Theresa marries the king of Piedmont and Sardinia, Charles Emmanuel III . Her husband was already twice a widower and father of four children. In this marriage, Elizabeth Theresa gave birth to three children:

- Benedict (* June 21, 1741; † January 4, 1808), Duke of Chablet
Queen Elizabeth Theresa died at the age of 29, shortly after the birth of her youngest son. Originally buried in the Cathedral of Turin, San Giovanni Batista; in 1786, her ashes were transferred to the Superga Basilica.
