Space Flight Experience
STS-72 Endeavor
From January 11 to January 20, 1996, Barry made his first flight: as an expert of the mission (flight) of the shuttle Endeavor STS-72. During the expedition, Barry performed an EVA with astronaut Leroy Chiao :
- January 15 - lasting 6 hours 9 minutes 19 seconds
The goal of the exits is to prepare for assembly in orbit of the International Space Station. During the release, astronauts Chiao and Barry conducted various technological experiments with electric and hydraulic lines. The total duration of the flight was 8 days 22 hours 1 minute 46 seconds.
STS-96 Discovery
From May 27 to June 6, 1999, Barry made the second flight: a specialist in the mission (flight) program of the Discovery shuttle STS-96. The main objective of the mission is the delivery of materials and equipment to the ISS. STS-96 was the first mission whose task was to dock with the International Space Station . During the expedition, Barry performed an EVA:
- May 30 - within 7 hours 55 minutes.
The flight duration was 18 days 17 hours 16 minutes 2 seconds.
STS-105 Discovery
From August 10 to August 22, 2001, Barry made his third flight: as a flight specialist, flight engineer of the Discovery shuttle STS-105. Barry and Patrick Forrester made two EVAs with a total duration of 11 hours and 45 minutes.
- August 16 from 13:58 to 20:14 ( UTC ), duration 6 hours 16 minutes. Installation on the section of the farm P6 block EAS with a supply of ammonia ; transfer and installation of two PEC containers on the Quest lock chamber .
- August 18 from 13:42 to 19:11 ( UTC ), duration 5 hours 29 minutes. Installation of OIH handrails (from the English Orbit-Installed Handrail ) on the surface of the Destiny module; laying along them two LTA power cables (from the English Launch-to-Activation Heater ) for installing the S0 truss section in flight STS-110 .
The flight duration was 11 days 21 hours 13 minutes.
