Black Jack

Black was born in Santa Monica , California , and raised in Hermosa Beach , a family of satellite communications engineers Judith Love Cohen and Thomas William Black. Black’s mother is Jewish, and his father is a Scot who converted to Judaism , so Jack received Jewish education as a child. At the evening show, he said that most likely his last name comes from the Scottish Blacksmith. His parents divorced when he was 10, after which Jack moved with his father to Culver City , but he often visited his mother until the end of his first year at the University of California at Los Angeles , when he and his father moved to France.

Black took the first professional step onto the stage, appearing in the production of Tim Robbins ' Carnage in 1989 at the Edinburgh Festival.
