Biography
Park Song Hyun (Park Sung-Hyun in Latin) is one of the best female archers of the first decade of the 21st century. In 2001, she won the South Korean archery championship and qualified for the World Cup. This year, she won the title of world champion in Beijing, and also won bronze medals in the team championship. Park won medals in all six world championships in which she participated. Her performance in Olympic Athens was close to impeccable. After setting a new world record in the 72-arrow rating round, she easily defeated most of her opponents in the qualifying rounds, and in the final won gold. Then she received gold in the team championship. Pak was close to repeating success in 2004 at the Beijing Olympics. Beating all rivals in the qualifying round, she reached the final again. The Chinese woman Zhang Juanjuan confronts her. But Pak lost gold at one point, 109-110. She managed to take revenge in the team championship, ahead of the Chinese women (including Zhang), and she won her third Olympic gold. In addition to its Olympic and World Championship medals, the “Archery Queen” also won three gold medals at the Asian Games, two gold at the Asian Championships, and two at the Universiade in 2003. Park decided to end his career after the Beijing Olympics. She married Olympic champion archer from Korea Pak Kyung Mo in December 2008.
