Biography
In 1939 he was sent to the Kherson flight school, where there were no vacant places; was redirected to the Ulyanovsk school of pilots of Osoaviahim , where he was enrolled [1] . At the end of the school, he was sent as an instructor pilot to the newly organized aviation school in Tsnoris-Tskhali.
In the Red Army since December 1940 [2] . He took part in the Great Patriotic War from August 15, 1942 [3] [4] (according to other sources - from September 17, 1942 [5] [6] [7] ). He fought on the Transcaucasian , North Caucasian , Southern , Fourth Ukrainian , Second Ukrainian and First Ukrainian Fronts [6] [7] . He joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) in 1943 [2] [6] .
Pokryshkin carefully followed the actions of each of us, looked closely, corrected, and taught.
Once, returning from the airfield, he told me:
“You're a fellow countryman, Golubev!” Let's fly together.
I was confused, could not find the right words for the answer. I was very trustworthy - to cover the already known by that time the country's pilot. Alexander Ivanovich, apparently, understood my confusion and gently put his hand on my shoulder.
- It's not that hard, Jora. You must be able to read my thoughts, and I will guess yours. No words in the air! Report on the radio only the most necessary - briefly and clearly. And most importantly - stay in pair ...
So I became a follower of the famous ace, Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin, then still the captain’s guard [8] .
On August 23, 1943, G. G. Golubev covered his host, substituting his plane for the shots of the attacking Messerschmitt. Golubev managed to pull the crashed fighter to the front line and leave it with a parachute [9] .
In total, he completed 320 sorties on I-16 and Aero Cobra , personally shot down 15 enemy planes in 105 air battles, and “ensured the downing” of 35 enemy vehicles by his host.

- Honorary citizen of the city of Vasilkov, Kiev region.
