Leptogenys amazonica (lat.) - a species of ants ( Formicidae ) of the genus Leptogenys from the subfamily Ponerinae . South America ( Brazil , Ecuador ). Small ants (about 5 mm) are brown in color. The eyes are large, protruding, located in the anterolateral parts of the head. The length of the head of working ants is 1.21–1.27 mm (head width is 0.96–0.99 mm), the length of the antennae is 1.37–1.42 mm, and the chest length is 2.13–2.18 mm . Antennae long, ratio of scapus length and head (SI) = 1.41-1.47. The head and abdomen are mostly smooth and shiny, the breast is wrinkled [1] .
