Lifestyle

Birds are combined into roaming flocks of 12 to 50 individuals, which are divided into even smaller flocks in search of food. Along with nectar, fruits and seeds, birds feed on ants, bugs, wasps and caterpillars. Yellow-necked manorins are aggressive towards other bird species that are too close to feeding, resting, or nesting sites.

Reproduction

The yellow-necked manorin nests in colonies. The nesting period lasts from July to December. An open, cup-shaped nest of grass and branches, stuffed with wool and feathers, is located in a tree cleft at a height of up to 6 m. In the clutch there are from 2 to 3 eggs. Adult birds of the same colony together take care of feeding and protecting the brood.
