DescriptionYellow-necked manorin 28 cm long. The plumage of the upper body is brown, gray wings with yellowish areas of feathers, eyes are framed in black, the lower part of the body is cream-colored, the ocular ring, throat, beak and legs are yellow.
DistributionThe bird lives in light forests and farmland throughout Australia , with the exception of the southeast and northeast.
LifestyleBirds are combined into roaming flocks of 12 to 50 individuals, which are divided into even smaller flocks in search of food. Along with nectar, fruits and seeds, birds feed on ants, bugs, wasps and caterpillars. Yellow-necked manorins are aggressive towards other bird species that are too close to feeding, resting, or nesting sites.
ReproductionThe yellow-necked manorin nests in colonies. The nesting period lasts from July to December. An open, cup-shaped nest of grass and branches, stuffed with wool and feathers, is located in a tree cleft at a height of up to 6 m. In the clutch there are from 2 to 3 eggs. Adult birds of the same colony together take care of feeding and protecting the brood.
