Ha Mapac (Division)

The 319th Tank Division “Ha Mapas” ( Heb. אוגדה 319, עוצבת המפץ ) (in the past: The 146th Panzer Division) is a reserve tank division within the Northern Military District of the Israel Defense Forces .

The division includes, among other things:

  • The 4th Reserve Kiryati Tank Brigade ( Heb. חטיבת קרייתי ) - in the past also wore numbers 166 and 602
  • The 226th Nesher Reserve Brigade (also: Ha-Zfonit) ( Heb. עוצבת נשר ) - in the past also wore numbers 80, 317 and 939
  • The 514th Reserve Tank Brigade "Egrof ha-Barzel" ( Heb. חטיבת אגרוף הברזל ) - in the past also wore numbers 200 and 205
  • Reserve artillery brigade "Tkuma" ( Heb. תקומה )
  • Reserve battalion of divisional subordination ( Heb. גדחי"ק gadhik )
  • Divisional part of logistics support ( Heb. אגד לוגיסטי אוגדתי )

History

The division (originally: the 146th Panzer Division) was founded in 1972 as a division of the General Staff reserve stationed in the Central Military District .

At the beginning of the Doomsday War , on October 7, 1973, the division was deployed to reinforcements on the Syrian front . On the eve of the conclusion of a cease-fire agreement, the division’s artillery brigade was transferred to the Sinai Peninsula , where the rest of the division was transferred shortly after the fighting ended, on November 6, 1973. In the process of reorganization that followed the end of the war, it was decided to redeploy the division in the Northern Military District .

Among the brigade commanders in the past: Moshe "Musa" Peled (1972-1974), Abraham Baram (1974-1975), Chaim Nadal (1975-1979), Amy Palant (1990-1993), Zvika Gendelman (1994-1997), Gershon Ha-Cohen (1997–2000), Dan Harel (2000–2001), Yaakov Aish (2004–2005), Yoav Har Even (2005–2008), Tamir Hyman (2008–2011), Moni Katz (2011—2013) [ 1] , Yaakov Banjo (2013–2015) and Oded Basyuk (2015–2017) [2] .

Since May 2017, the division commander is Brigadier General Nadav Lotan .
