Biography
Christoph Wiebel was born on August 1, 1775 in the city of Ernsbach near Ohringen . Since 1797, he studied as a doctor at the University of Jena , in the same year he received a doctorate in medicine for his work on the flora of the surroundings of Wertheim . Since 1799, Wibel worked as a doctor in Wertheim. In 1799, he also published a book on Wertheim flora and the Tauber Valley . August Wilhelm Eberhard Christoph died on December 25, 1813 from typhus at the age of 38 in a Russian military hospital in Wertheim.
Herbarium specimens collected by Wiebel are stored in several German herbaria - at the University of Gottingen (GOET), at the University of Jena (JE). Some moss samples are located at the University of Helsinki (H).
