Sosnovka (until 1938 Augstagirren , German; Augstagirren ; in 1938-1946 Gross Baum , German Gross Baum ) - a village in the Polessky district of the Kaliningrad region . It is the administrative center of the Saransk rural settlement .

Content

Name Etymology

The Prussian word Augstagirren means "high forest" [2] .

Geography

The village is located 17 kilometers from Polessk on the A-190 highway.

History

The first mention of Augstagirren dates back to 1312. In 1923-1926, a church was built in the settlement. Until 1945, Augstagirren was part of East Prussia , Germany . Since 1945, it was part of the RSFSR of the USSR . Now part of Russia . In 1946, Augstagirren was renamed Sosnovka. Since 1947, the village belonged to the Sosnovsky village council. June 30, 2008 became the administrative center of the Saransk rural settlement formed during the administrative reform in the Russian Federation .
