Okhota (in the upper reaches - Left Hunting [2] ) is a river in the Far East of Russia . It flows through the territory of the Okhotsk District of the Khabarovsk Territory .

The length of the river is 393 km, the catchment area is 19,100 km² [2] . By the area of the basin, the Hunt is ranked 6th among the rivers of the Khabarovsk Territory and 57th in Russia [3] .
The name comes from the Evenki okat - “river” [3] .
Hydrography
The sources of the Hunt are located on the Suntar-Hayat range, then the river flows south in a wide valley between the Yudomsky and Kukhtuysky ranges, and then flows into the Sea of Okhotsk . At 32 kilometers from the mouth of the Hunt departs the channel, which flows into the river Khaibas , a tributary of the Kukhtui River .
Almost along the entire length of the river, the banks are wooded, and red fish spawn in the river.
The power of the river is snow and rain [3] . Ice cover usually begins at the end of October - beginning of November, and the river is opened at the beginning or in the middle of May [3] .
The average annual water consumption is about 200 m³ / s, the flow volume is 6.312 km³ / year. Water salinity is less than 50 mg / l. Turbidity of the river is not more than 50 g / m³ [3] .
The Hunting River is used to float forests, and in the lower reaches is navigable [4] .
At the mouth of the river is located one of the first in the history of the country of Russian settlements on the Pacific coast - Okhotsk [3] .
