Origin
Leonardo's parents were the governor of the island of Corfu, Guglielmo Tokko and Margarita Orsini, daughter of Count Kefalini and Zakynthos I John Orsini . [1] [2] [3]
Count of Kefalonia and Zakynthos
Thanks to his father, Leonardo had close ties with the Anjou dynasty, especially with Robert Tarento . Tokko was one of the witnesses of the sovereign’s marriage, and in 1352 helped release him from Hungarian captivity. As a reward, in 1357, Robert bestowed on him the title of Count of Kefalonia and Zakynthos, and possibly also Ithaca. In the period from 1362 to 1373, Leonardo gained control of the island of Lefkada, as well as the epirus port of Voinitsa. [2] [3] [4] In 1374, after the death of Philip II of Tarentus , he became part of the delegation representing the Principality of Achaea before Queen Giovanna I of Neopolitan . [5] Leonardo died between March 1375 and August 1377. [4] [6]
