Bust of Alexander II in Kiev
The bust of Alexander II in Kiev was installed in 1883 with private funds at the Institute of Noble Maidens . Demolished by the Bolsheviks in the 1920s
On March 1, 1881, Emperor Alexander II died as a result of a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg . In 1883 , in memory of his reign, at the expense of pupils and teachers of the Kiev Institute of Noble Maidens, a bronze bust of the emperor was installed in the garden on his courtyard. It was placed on a labradorite pedestal .
With the arrival of the Bolsheviks in the 1920s, the bust of the emperor was melted down, and a bust of one of the NKVD officers was placed on a pedestal. This monument was later demolished, its further fate is unknown.
