The Radebeuler Courage Preis is a biennial award given to a public figure from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe for his services to the struggle for civic ideals and his persistence and self-denial. The candidature is selected by the jury from the list of ten nominated applicants from different countries.
The prize is named after the German city of Radebeul (a suburb of Dresden ), where a ceasefire was signed in the so-called Peace Church in 1645 and thus put an end to the Thirty Years War (1618–1648), one of the first conflicts between Europe.
