Stephen Laurie is a British amateur astronomer , a pioneer of comets and asteroids [1] , who works at the Church Stretton Observatory ( IAU-Code 966), located near Church Stretton . In the period 1995 to 1997 he discovered a total of 50 asteroids [2] . He was also engaged in the search and observation of dwarf stars [3] , and in 1997 became the pioneer of the supernova SN 1997bq in the spiral galaxy NGC 3147 [4] [5] .
