Weapons Act
Kennesaw is the only city in the United States to pass a law requiring at least one small arms unit in every home and ammunition. This decision was adopted in 1982, but was rather formal, since at that time in a city with a population of 5000 inhabitants 95% were owners of weapons. In addition, the law did not provide for any punishment, and according to local police for 2010, weapons were only in 50% of homes [5] .
Such an unusual decision did not lead to an increase in killings and violence. Over the next 26 years, the crime rate in the city related to the murders remains noticeably lower compared to neighboring cities and the United States as a whole. Moreover, the population since the adoption of the law has increased from 5 to 35 thousand people. The general level of thefts and violent crimes in Kennesaw is 2-3 times lower [5] .
