History
During the Qin Empire, Qianzou County (黔 陬 县) existed here. Under the Sui Empire, the county was disbanded, and Jiaoxi County (胶 西 县) appeared on this territory, so named because it was located on the west bank of the Jiaoshui River. Under the Tang Empire, he was annexed to Gaomi County (高密 县).
Under the Northern Song Empire, Jiaoxi County was re-created. Under the Yuan Empire, the Jiaozhou (胶州) region was established, under whose jurisdiction the Jiaozi county also appeared. Under the Ming Empire, the county was disbanded; only the region subordinate to the Laizhou government remained.
After the Xinhai revolution in China, a reform of the administrative structure was carried out, as a result of which the provinces and administrations were abolished; on the lands previously directly subordinated to the regional authorities, in 1913 Jiaoxian County (胶 县) was formed.
In 1946, the Binbei Special Region (滨 北 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1950, it was disbanded, and the county became part of the newly created Jiaozhou Special District (胶州 专区); the board of the special district is located in Jiaoxian. In 1956, this special district was disbanded, and the county became part of the Changwei Special District (昌潍 专区). In 1958, it was transferred under the jurisdiction of Qingdao, but in 1961 it was returned to the Changwei Special District, which was renamed Changwei County (Ок 地区) in 1967. In November 1978, the county was again transferred under the jurisdiction of Qingdao.
In February 1987, Jiaoxian County was disbanded, and instead of it, in January 1988, Jiaozhou City County was formed.
