Biography
He came from a spiritual rank. At the end of the course at the seminary (1807), he entered the Medical and Surgical Academy .
In 1811, the Preobrazhensky Regiment was released by the doctor in the Life Guard and in the same year he was transferred to the Lithuanian Regiment by the battalion doctor in the Life Guard [1] . For exemplary service in the war of 1812 he was awarded the rank (college assessor), order and two rings.
In 1815, Andreevsky was appointed senior headquarters physician of the Life Guards Pavlovsky Regiment [2] , and in 1819 he was dismissed for appointment to the Court as a gof physician. In the last post he served 15 years.
Only in 1834 he was recognized by the Medical and Surgical Academy , without an exam, as a doctor of medicine, and in February 1837 - as a doctor of medicine and surgery, and in the same year he was appointed a member of the Medical Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was a doctor at the Department and the House of the General Staff.
Efim Ivanovich Andreevsky is known for the fact that it was he who treated A.S. Pushkin after a fatal duel and, according to the testimonies of A.I. Turgenev and V.I. Dal , closed his eyes to him. Andreevsky was called as a specialist in peritonitis , which in Europe at that time was considered incurable, but which E.I. Andreevsky, according to his surviving works, was successfully cured. In this case, Andreevsky did not consider surgery indicated.
Andreevsky was one of the founders and until his death held the post of chairman of the Society of Russian Doctors in St. Petersburg .
