Valga district is an administrative-territorial unit within the Estonian SSR that existed in 1950-1991. Center - Valga . The population in the 1959 census was 38.2 thousand people. [1] The area in 1955 was 969.1 km².

History
Valga district was formed in 1950 , when the county division in the Estonian SSR was replaced by the district. In 1952, the district was included in the Tartu region , but already in April 1953, as a result of the abolition of regions in the Estonian SSR, the district was returned to republican subordination.
In 1991, the Valga district was transformed into Valga County .
Administrative Division
In 1955, the district included 1 city (Valga) and 7 village councils: Kaagyarvesky, Karulsky, Puksky, Sangaste, Tachevsky, Tyllistsky, Yrusky [2] .
