William Wade Harris (1860-1929) is a well-known Liberian Afro-Christian preacher from the Rowing people, a significant number of Christians in Liberia , Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana are still followers of Harris.

Biography
Adopted Christianity at the age of about twenty years. In 1910 he was imprisoned for participating in the uprising. In prison, Harris experienced a religious vision. In 1913, having come out of prison, wearing white clothes and a turban, he began to preach, carrying with him a Bible, a wooden cross and a pumpkin rattle, as a symbol of the African character of his mission.
