Biography

Fedor Bogdanov was born on August 9, 1928 in the city of Kamen-on-Ob in the Altai Territory . In 1945 he graduated from nine classes of a school in Barnaul , in the same year he graduated from the city flying club and remained in it as a flight instructor. In September 1947 he was called up for service in the Soviet Army. In 1950, Bogdanov graduated from the military aviation school of pilots in Omsk , served in combat units of the air force . Since 1953 he was a test pilot at the Scientific Testing Ground No. 4 in the Astrakhan Region [1] .

In 1953-1957 , Bogdanov took part in a number of cruise missile tests, performed 31 bailouts from Il-28 aircraft , which were used as missile targets [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 16, 1957, for "courage and heroism shown in testing new rocket technology", Major Fedor Bogdanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 11109 [1] .

Until 1965 he continued to serve at the training ground. In 1965-1971 , Bogdanov was at flight test work at the State Air Force Research Institute , participated in tests of the MiG-15 , MiG-15UTI , MiG-17 , Yak-25RV aircraft . In 1971-1979 , he was a senior assistant to the flight director for landing aircraft of the flight service of a branch of the same research institute at the Chkalovsky aerodrome . In November 1979, with the rank of lieutenant colonel , he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the village of Chkalovsky (now within the city of Shchelkovo, Moscow region ).

He died on May 5, 1994 . He was buried in a cemetery in the village of Leonikh Shchelkovsky district of the Moscow region [1] .

Test pilot of the 2nd class (1966), was awarded two Orders of Lenin and a number of medals [1] .
