The station is represented by two side platforms and two ways. Unlike most other stations in the New York Metro, this station does not have a single column throughout the platforms (oddly enough, there are no columns between the tracks either), the platforms themselves do not have a standard yellow boundary line. All this is a sign of the last stations of the New York Metro - it was opened on October 29, 1989, one of the most recent in the system (the newest metro station is South Ferry , opened in 2009 ).
From the eastern end of the station above the platforms is a mezzanine. There is a turnstile pavilion and the only exit from the station - to the intersection of 21st Street with 41st Avenue . The exit is represented not only by stairs: there are also escalators (despite the fact that the station is not deep) and elevators.
In the period from 1989 to 2001, the station was on the final line - the connection to the Queens Boulevard line, Ai-di, was opened only in December 2001 . Nevertheless, the paths did not end in dead ends, not at the station, but further to the east. There is a crossroads congress, which was used during these years to turn shuttle trains, as well as the JFK express train. The paths ended about eight blocks east of the platforms - this tunnel even got its name: “The tunnel to nowhere.” The paths connect to both local and express routes of the Queens Boulevard, Ai-en-di line . Nevertheless, trains F follow the express train without stopping at the first five local stations of the line.
