Petr Dmitrievich Bogdanov ( February 4, 1909 - October 4 (7), 1973 ) - Senior Lieutenant of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1945 ).

Biography
Pyotr Bogdanov was born on February 4, 1909 at Drovyanaya station (now the Ulyotovsky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory ) in a working-class family. He received incomplete secondary education, from 16 years he worked. In 1925 - 1931 he was a salesman in Chita , then a foreman at a lumber station in the village of Shabartui . In 1931— 1933 he served in the army in Irkutsk . Demobilized, he graduated from road school, worked as a driver in Zolototrans. In 1939 he was re-drafted into the army, graduated from the armored school in the Trans-Baikal Military District, received the military rank of junior military equipment. In 1940 he was transferred to the reserve. In August 1941, he was drafted for the third time into the army, initially serving in Transbaikalia. Since November 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Participated in battles on the Volkhov , Leningrad , 1st , 2nd , 3rd Baltic and 1st Byelorussian fronts . He took part in the liberation of Novgorod , Porkhov , Pskov , Rezhitsko-Dvinskoy , Riga , Memelskoy operations. Since December 1944, he participated in the liberation of Poland . By that time, Lieutenant Peter Bogdanov commanded a company of the 1069th Infantry Regiment of the 311th Infantry Division of the 61st Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. Distinguished during the Warsaw-Poznan operation [1] .
On January 14, 1945, the division began forcing the Vistula 14 kilometers north-west of Magnushev . In this place in the middle of the Vistula was the island of Kempa Kanarska , turned by the defending German units into a major stronghold. The defense consisted of 3 lines of trenches reinforced with barriers and engineering structures. Deep trenches were dug along the banks of the Vistula and Pilica , and the banks of the rivers themselves reached a height of 8 meters. Bogdanov’s company was part of Captain Savostin’s battalion and was in the second echelon of the offensive. The fighters of the company, crossing the river on thin ice, together with the battalion of Captain Mamatov, who were in the first echelon, freed the town of Pulco and advanced towards Podgužice . Having penetrated into the German defense, the company captured the bridgehead , which contributed to the successful crossing of the entire battalion across the river [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945, for "courage, bravery and heroism shown during the crossing of the Vistula", Lieutenant Peter Bogdanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7191 [1] .
Bogdanov participated in the battles in Germany , the Berlin operation . After the war, the rank of senior lieutenant was demobilized. He worked as a mechanic, first at the Irkutsk Meat Processing Plant, then at the Sakhalin Fish Factory, as a train crane driver in Vladivostok . In 1964 he retired. He lived in Chita, died 4 (according to other sources - 7 ) October 1973 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
