ISO 3166-2: TM is an International Organization for Standardization standard that defines geocodes. It is a subset of the standard ISO 3166-2 related to Turkmenistan . The standard covers five provinces and the territory of the city of Ashgabat. Each code consists of two parts: the Alpha2 code according to the ISO 3166-1 standard for Turkmenistan - TM and the one-character code written through a hyphen. The additional one-letter code is formed by the abbreviation of the name of the velayat, the capital code is formed by the letter S. The geocodes of the velayats and the capital of Turkmenistan are a subset of the top-level domain code - TM , assigned by Turkmenistan in accordance with ISO 3166-1 .
