Flavia Domitilla the Elder ( Latin Flavia Domitilla Major ) is the wife of the Roman emperor Vespasian .

Flavia Domicilla the Elder was the daughter of Flavius Liberal , who held a modest position as a scribe under a quaestor . Flavius Liberal came from the middle Italian city of Ferentium (now Ferento). According to Suetonius, Flavia Domicilla the Elder had only Latin citizenship, but then she was declared free-born and Roman citizen by court at the request of her father.
Vespasian married Domicilla after 30 years. They had three children in a marriage: Titus , Domitian, and Flavia Domicilla the Younger . Flavia Domitilla the Elder died before 69 - the exact date of her death is unknown.
After her death, Vespasian lived with freedwoman Anthony Cenis.
