Biography
In 1969 he graduated from the Moscow Physics and Mathematics School No. 2 ( Lyceum "Second School" ), of which he is currently a member of the Board of Trustees.
He studied, and then worked and taught (until the mid 90's) at the Physics Department of Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (MGPI) named after V.I. Lenin .
In 1978, at the Department of General and Experimental Physics, he defended his thesis on quantum radiophysics. In the same year, the first book, Rays, Waves, Quantums, devoted to the history of optics, was published at the Nauka publishing house . In the future, the history of science became the main direction of research and publications of S. R. Filonovich. He is the author of two books published in the “Quantum Library” (“The Highest Speed” and “The Fate of Classical Law”), “Reading Books on the History of Classical Physics”, a biography of S. Coulomb and many other publications and publications in this field. In 1996 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the subject “Experiment and its role in the formation of classical physics” at the Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences S. I. Vavilova.
In 1992, S.R. Filonovich, changing his field of activity, became deputy head of the department of sociology of organizations at the sociology faculty of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. In the same year, together with the American non-profit organization Partners for Democratic Change, he created the National Center for Conflict Studies at the Sociology Department of Moscow State Pedagogical University. In 1994-1996 concurrently performs the duties of dean-organizer of the Faculty of Management of the International University of Business and Management, created by the Sociology Department of Moscow State University, the University and the Karich Brothers Foundation (Yugoslavia, Belgrade). In 1996, he became a professor at the Faculty of Management at the Higher School of Economics. In 1999, S.R. Filonovich participated in the creation of one of the leading business schools in Russia today - the Higher School of Management at the Higher School of Economics. From its inception to the present, he has been its dean.
In addition to teaching, S.R. Filonovich is engaged in coaching, consulting in the field of management and organizational development, conducts professional trainings on various aspects of management in Russia and abroad (Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Azerbaijan, Finland, etc.). Among his clients are well-known foreign and Russian companies.
In addition, S.R. Filonovich has extensive experience in organizational and managerial activities. In 1991-1993 - General manager, organizer of the American company American Golden Popcorn. Under his leadership, a school exchange program was implemented within the framework of the international organization AFS Intercultural Programs in six republics of the former USSR. For 13 years he was Chairman of the Council of the National Charitable Fund "Interculture" - the representative of AFS in Russia, in 2003-2005. He was a member of the International Board of Trustees AFS (Board of Trustees).
S.R. Filonovich made a great contribution to the creation and establishment of a business education system in modern Russia. For a long time he was Vice-President of the Russian Association of Business Education (RABO), a member of the Council of the Association of Business Schools of Central and Eastern Europe (CEEMAN), led the management section of the expert council of the Federal Commission for the Training of Management Personnel for National Economy Organizations of the Russian Federation, He is one of the developers of the Presidential program for training management personnel for national economic organizations of the Russian Federation.
At present, he is one of the brightest and most authoritative figures in the Russian business education system. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Russian Journal of Management and the journal Education Issues , a member of the editorial board of the journal Business Education, a member of the American Society for Training and Development.
The author of more than 200 scientific, historical, scientific and methodological works, including more than 10 monographs , two of which are translated into foreign languages. The book “Leadership and Practical Skills of a Manager”, as well as a number of other publications on management problems, received wide recognition.
