Content
Geography
The village is located on the right bank of the Nes River , which flows into the White Sea , about 6 miles from the mouth. To the west of the village is Nes airfield.
History
It was founded in the second half of the 18th century, namely in 1769. presumably in early December, the Mezen peasants who were engaged in seasonal fishing in these places. Until 1903, Nes was part of the Dorogorsk volost of the Mezen district of the Arkhangelsk province . In 1903, Nes became the center of Ness parish. Since 1924, the village of Nes has been the center of the Kanino-Chesh Samoyed volost of the Mezen district, which united the nomadic population of the Kanin and Timan tundras. Later Nes became the center of the Ness village council of the Mezen district . In 1934, the Ness village council, with the settlements of Mgla and Nes, moved from the Mezen district of the Northern Territory to the Nenets National District. In 2005, Nes became the center of the Kaninsky Village Council municipality of the Zapolyarny District of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
