Hrazdan ( armenian Հրազդան ) is a city in Armenia in the Kotayk region . Until 1959, the village of Akhta (in Armenian: Ներքին Ախտա ). [1] Located on the left bank of the upper reaches of the Hrazdan River. Located at a distance of 50 km from Yerevan . The population of the city is 52808 people. The average annual temperature is 6 ° C, the amount of annual precipitation is 715–730 mm. Hrazdan is one of the rainiest cities in Armenia .

Geography
The territory of the city is located mainly in the steppe landscape zone, surrounded by light forest.
Hrazdan River and its tributaries flow through the city: Tsaghkadzor and Kakavadzor . Within the city, there is the Akhbyurak reservoir with a volume of 5 million m³, commissioned in 1953.
At a short distance from the city, in the Hrazdan river basin, there are several deposits: Ankavan copper-molybdenum and gold-iron bearing, Megradzor polymetallic , including gold-bearing, Hrazdan complex , mainly marked by the content of compounds of iron , titanium , manganese , phosphorus and other elements. [2]
The climate is sharply continental with moderately cool, rainy summers and fairly cold and snowy winters. The total annual rainfall is 550-600 mm, humidity - about 65%.

Economics
Not far from the city is the most powerful thermal power plant in Armenia - Hrazdan TPP . Razdansky Tsemzavod also operates in a factory street, as well as a HARVAL MACHINE plant for the production of metal structures.
Trade
In 2008, the city opened the first regional supermarket of the Star chain [4] . As well as 6 other supermarkets and other shops and catering establishments. Also in 2015. the Vega network electronics store was opened; after 2017, VLV Electronics opened. In 2018, an Olympic pool opened in the city. As well as AQUA-M pool. And the new cinema "Hrazdan".
