STS-48 - space shuttle flight MTKK Discovery under the Space Shuttle program (43rd flight program and 13th Discovery flight), the purpose of which was to put into geostationary orbit using the Canadian manipulator, the UARS satellite (weighing ~ 6600 kg) for the study of the upper atmosphere: studies of the ozone layer of the Earth. Experiments were conducted to study the development of muscle mass under zero gravity in 8 thirty-day-old female rats .
