The European Physical Journal is a series of peer-reviewed scientific journals published by EDP Sciences , Springer Science + Business Media, and Società Italiana di Fisica . It arose in 1998 as a result of the merger of Acta Physica Hungarica , Anales de Fisica , Czechoslovak Journal of Physics , Il Nuovo Cimento , Journal de Physique , Portugaliae Physica and Zeitschrift für Physik . 12 published journals cover all areas of physics . The author has the right to publish his article in the journal as part of the open access initiative. [1] In this case, it will be available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license . [2]

History
Since the creation of the Berlin Physical Society in 1845 (the German Physikalische Gesellschaft zu Berlin ), the journals Fortschritte der Physik and Verhandlungen were published , but by 1919 Verhandlungen became too voluminous. A committee was formed consisting of Albert Einstein , Eigen Goldstein , Fritz Haber , E. Janke, Schel Karl and Wilhelm Westpal . The committee created a new journal, Zeitschrift für Physik , for articles on original research. The magazine began to be published in the same year. In 1975, the Zeitschrift für Physik was combined with the Physics of Condensed Matter . Zeitschrift für Physik was published as a four-part magazine from 1920 to 1997 by Springer-Verlag , sponsored by Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft . At the beginning of the 20th century, this journal was considered one of the most prestigious physics journals; its golden years coincide with the golden years of quantum mechanics . [3]
In the late 1990s , Springer and EDP Sciences decided to combine Zeitschrift für Physik and Journal de Physique. Following the accession of Il Nuovo Cimento, published by Societa Italiana di Fisica, the European Physical Journal began to be published in January 1998 . In total, the EPJ included Acta Physica Hungarica, Anales de Fisica, Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, Il Nuovo Cimento, Journal de Physique, Portugaliae Physica and Zeitschrift für Physik.
