A dynastic union ( dynastic union ) is a political association in which two states are governed by one dynasty , and their borders, laws and interests remain different [1] . This form differs from a personal union in which two states are governed by one monarch , and not by one dynasty.
Examples
- With the assassination of Sancho IV, the kingdom of Navarra was captured by his cousins Alfonso VI of Castile and Sancho V Ramirez of Aragon, and the latter became king of Navarre in 1076 , which led to half-century (1076–1134) Aragonese rule.
- The marriage of the Count of Barcelona Ramon Berenguer IV with the future queen of Aragon , held in 1137, led to the formation of the Aragonese crown [2] [3] .
- The marriage of Jagiello and Jadwig , concluded in 1385, is mainly called the modern historians of the Krevsky Union . Union laid the foundation for the formation of the Commonwealth .
- The marriage of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon , held in 1469, laid the foundation for the kingdom of Spain . They did not take their thrones until 1474 and 1479, respectively [4] .
- After the conclusion of the dynastic union between Spain (the alliance between the crowns of Castile and Aragon) and Portugal (1580-1640) [5] , commonly referred to as modern Iberian historians, the ruled the two countries.
- When Elizabeth I died in 1603, the king of Scotland, James VI , became the heir. Basically it is called the , this dynastic union ruled the two countries from 1603 to 1653 (when the monarchy was officially abolished ), and from 1659 until the unification of the two states in 1707.
