The newspaper was first published in 1875, thanks to its founder, publisher and editor Alexei Gattsuk , a well-known archaeologist , publicist and writer .

In the period from 1883 to 1884, its retail sale was banned.

After the death of Alexei Gattsuk in 1890, the publication of the newspaper ceased.
