The monument to Yoruk is a monument to Prussian Field Marshal Count Ludwig York von Wartenburg (1759–1830) in Königsberg ( East Prussia ).
The monument was erected to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of the Nations at Leipzig , which was widely celebrated throughout Germany. The statue was commissioned by the officers of the first army corps by sculptor Walter Rosenberg (1882-1945) and placed in front of the Walter Simon Stadium (now Baltika Stadium ) [1] in 1913, and in 1938 transferred to the glacis in front of the Royal Gate .
After the Second World War, the monument is lost (in 1947, a bronze sculpture was sent to the smelter [1] ). Only the high relief with the image of L. York at the Zakheim Gate is preserved in the city.
The pedestal from the monument until 1961 was used as a pedestal first for the bust of I.Stalin , and then for the bust of Karl Marx installed at the intersection of Krasnaya and Karl Marx streets, but after the creation of the new bust of Karl Marx disappeared.
