Shaista Suhrawardi Ikramullah ( born Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah ; July 22, 1915 - December 11, 2000 ) - Pakistani statesman, was an active participant in the Pakistan movement . The niece of the famous politician Hussein Suhrawardi .

Biography
Born July 22, 1915 in Calcutta in a wealthy family. She was educated in Calcutta and London . Her mother adhered to traditional Islamic values, and her father (a prominent surgeon and politician) was a liberal and encouraged her daughter's desire to get a good education.
She got married at a very young age. Her husband was a diplomat and became the first secretary for foreign affairs of Pakistan . He also supported the Shaista in her quest for a modern education. In 1940, she became the first Muslim woman to earn a doctorate from the University of London .
Shaista Suhrawardi Ikramullah is one of the Muslim women who took an active part in the Pakistan movement. From 1964 to 1967 she was the ambassador of Pakistan to Morocco .
After leaving big politics, she wrote many memoirs about her life and political career. She died on December 11, 2000 in Karachi at the age of 85.
