The British Iris Society (BIS ) is a public organization that unites English lovers of growing plants of the genus Iris .

The British society of iris growers was founded in 1922 by enthusiasts of iris cultivation with the aim of creating a circle of communication for the exchange of views and knowledge about representatives of the genus. Engaged in promoting iris cultivation, contains a library, is the founder of the British Dykes Medal Winners Award for Distinguished Varieties , and publishes an annual book and newsletters. The company also provides assistance in the exchange and acquisition of seed material and adult plants and organizes an annual show [1] .
The society includes several regional groups and a group engaged in beardless irises ( eng. Group for Beardless Irises ) [2]
