Osmiridium (or osmiridium ) is a natural alloy of osmium (21–49.3%) [1] and iridium with small admixtures of platinum , rhodium, and ruthenium . This alloy is very hard and corrosion resistant . Used for the production of surgical instruments and in various branches of precision engineering .

Detection
It was first discovered in Western Tasmania in 1880 at the gold-bearing deposits as an admixture of gold-bearing ore .
Application
It can be osmium, iridium and platinum ore.
