Daniel (Dan) Hamus ( born Daniel Hamhuis ; born December 13, 1982 , Smithers, British Columbia , Canada ) is a professional Canadian hockey player, defender. He currently plays for the Nashville Predators NHL team. Olympic champion in 2014 and two-time world champion (2007 and 2015) in the national team of Canada.

Career
In 2001, Hamus was selected in the first round of the NHL draft under the common 12th number by the Nashville Predators team. At that time he was a player of the junior team “ Prince George Cougars ” and after the draft he spent one more season in WHL . In this “graduation” season, Dan was recognized as the most valuable WHL player, as well as the best defender of the Canadian Hockey League ( CHL ) - an education uniting WHL, OHL and QMJHL .
After playing one year in the AHL at the farm club of the Nashville drafted him, since 2003, Hamus has become the main player of the Predators in the strongest league in North America. With a break for the lockout year, he defended the colors of the Predators for six seasons.
In the summer of 2010, Hamus became an unrestricted free agent and signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks club for six years. In his first season in the ranks, the Canucks reached the final Stanley Cup series in which Vancouver lost in 7 matches to the Boston Bruins .
At the end of the contract with Canucks on July 1, 2016, he signed a two-year contract for $ 7.5 million with the Dallas Stars club. [2]
January 30, 2018 held his jubilee 1000th match in the NHL, in which the “Dallas” lost the “ Los Angeles Kings ” 0: 3 [3] .
On July 25, 2018, as a free agent, he signed a two-year $ 2.5 million contract with the Nashville Predators, returning to his first club in the NHL after 8 years.
Hamus has participated in several international competitions as part of the Canadian national team, both at the junior and adult levels. At the World Youth Championships in 2001 and 2002 , he won bronze and silver medals, respectively. He also participated in six (2006-2009, 2013, 2015) world championships, where he won twice gold ( 2007 and 2015 ) and silver ( 2008 , 2009 ) medals. He became the Olympic champion in 2014.
