Dookie

Duki ( Greek Δούκαι - plural of Δούκας , Dukas; w. Δούκαινα ) - a well-known Byzantine surname of Armenian origin. According to the American Byzantineist D. Polemis, the name Duk is a translation of the Armenian “ sparapet ” [1] . Another Byzantinist, P. Haranis, confirms the Armenian origin of the Duk clan [2] . The dynasty that advanced in the 11th century gave the first statesman (minister) to the reign of Isaac Komnin , who later himself became the Byzantine emperor under the name of Constantine X (1059-67); his wife was the famous writer Evdokia Macrembolitissa .

The son of Constantine, Michael VII , reigned from 1071 to 1078 . The son-in-law of the Nicene Emperor Theodore I Laskaris , John Duc Vatats , took the throne after the death of Laskaris ( 1222 ) under the name of John III. He sought to restore the Byzantine Empire . In 1246 he succeeded in combining the possessions of Thessalonian Angels with Nicaea. His second wife was the daughter of Emperor Frederick II. He died in 1255 . After him reigned his son, Theodore II (until 1259 ), and his grandson, John IV (until 1260 ).
